Restaurant POS system

The restaurant POS that runs the whole restaurant.

Point of sale, kitchen display, receipt printing, staff and shifts, inventory, payroll, loyalty, gift cards, and online ordering — one system, one login, on the Windows registers and printers you already own.

  • Keeps selling with the internet down
  • Sale to printed receipt in about two seconds
  • No hardware bundle — runs on your gear
The short answer

What is a restaurant POS system?

A restaurant POS system is the software your crew touches a thousand times a day: it builds the order, applies modifiers, splits the check, takes payment, and prints the receipt. But the sale is only the beginning of it. Every ring also has to become a kitchen ticket, a line in the cash drawer count, a minute on someone's timecard, a movement of stock, and a row in tomorrow's report.

The systems that frustrate operators are the ones that stop at the counter and leave the rest to four more subscriptions. PatronWorks is the whole loop — the register and everything downstream of it, including loyalty, gift cards, and online ordering that run off the same menu and the same customer records as the POS.

Offline-first

The internet drops. You keep selling.

Most cloud POS systems close your restaurant the moment the line goes down. PatronWorks holds the menu and the register on the machine, so the counter never stops.

  • Take orders and ring cash with the connection down
  • Receipts still print locally, in about two seconds
  • Every sale saves on the register and syncs the instant you're back
Buying guide

How to choose a restaurant POS system.

Six questions worth asking any vendor — including us.

01

Does it keep selling when the internet drops?

A cloud-only register is a closed restaurant the moment the line goes down. PatronWorks keeps taking orders and ringing cash offline, still prints receipts locally, and syncs every sale the instant you are back online.

02

Will receipts actually print — on the printer you already own?

This is where most systems fall over. The PatronWorks print agent installs in one double-click, senses whether the printer is thermal (raw ESC/POS) or inkjet and laser (a clean formatted page), and needs no IT visit.

03

Does it cover the back office, or only the counter?

A POS that stops at the sale leaves you buying inventory, payroll, loyalty, and online ordering separately. PatronWorks runs supplier-to-plate and clock-in-to-paycheck in the same login.

04

Can you control which machines are allowed to ring sales?

Terminals register by hardware identity and are licensed per store, so no unregistered laptop can open the register. Roles decide who can open a shift and which tabs each person sees.

05

Does it run on your existing hardware?

Windows registers, tablets, and the printer already behind your counter. No hardware bundle, no proprietary terminal you have to lease.

06

Does it grow from one counter to a group?

Organizations group stores with per-store logins and isolated data, each on its own address at yourgroup.patronworks.com, with a group-level view when you need it.

FAQ

Restaurant POS questions, answered.

What is a restaurant POS system?

A restaurant POS (point of sale) system is the software your crew uses to take orders, apply modifiers, take payment, and print receipts — plus everything that hangs off those sales: kitchen tickets, cash reconciliation, staff hours, stock movement, and reporting. A modern restaurant POS also carries customers with it: loyalty, gift cards, and online ordering run off the same menu and the same customer records as the register.

How much does the PatronWorks restaurant POS cost?

PatronWorks is a monthly subscription per store with terminal licences you add as you grow — there is no hardware bundle to buy, because it runs on the Windows registers, tablets, and printers you already own. See the pricing page for current plans.

Does the POS work without an internet connection?

Yes. The register keeps taking orders and ringing cash with the internet down, receipts still print locally in about two seconds, and every sale is saved on the register and syncs the moment you are back online.

What hardware do I need for the PatronWorks POS?

A Windows register or tablet and a receipt printer. The print agent auto-detects thermal printers (Star, Epson, and generic ESC/POS) as well as ordinary inkjet and laser printers, so most restaurants can start on the gear already behind the counter. A card terminal and a cash drawer plug into the same setup.

How long does it take to train staff on it?

The register is laid out menu-first for thumbs rather than cursors, and most crew are taking orders confidently within a single shift. Staff sign in with a name and a PIN — there are no shared passwords to teach.

Does the POS include loyalty, gift cards, and online ordering?

Yes — all three are part of the platform rather than separate subscriptions. Loyalty cards, coupons, and marketing live under Customers; gift cards are issued and redeemed at the register and online; and your ordering storefront, delivery, and driver app share the same menu as the POS.

Can it handle more than one location?

Yes. Organizations group your stores under one roof with per-store logins, isolated per-store data, and a group-level view. Each store gets its own address at yourgroup.patronworks.com.
